Last Sunday I went through La Pasadilla and I found out this market, an initiative of the City of Villa de Ingenio and the Union of Small Farmers and Ranchers of Las Palmas. They have launched this agrifood market on Sundays in April, May and June.

El domingo pasado pasé por La Pasadilla y me enteré de esta iniciativa de  el Ayuntamiento de la Villa de Ingenio y la Unión de Pequeños Agricultores y Ganaderos de Las Palmas. Han puesto en marcha este mercadillo agroalimentario durante los domingos de abril, mayo y junio.

Besides being able to buy fresh products without intermediaries such as fruits and vegetables, bakery, cheese, dairy products, pastries, honey, or even seeds and flowers, there will be workshops:

May 3rd: Cheese and yogurt production
May 10th: Traditional home brew production
May 17th: Bread production
May 24th: Jam production
May 31st: Canarian mojos production and talk about the distinction between the different types of eggs

These initiatives not only allows consumers to purchase quality products, from local families but also helps to boost the markets, promote associations, encourage economic and business fabric and even promote job creation.

The market will be open on Sundays from 8:30 to 18:30 hours. It’s very easy to get. From GC-1 take exit 18 to Carrizal/Ingenio. Follow the signs to Ingenio and go through it till you get to a roundabout. Turn right to La Pasadilla. It’s a very good excuse to visit this beatiful area 🙂

Además de poder adquirir productos frescos y sin intermediarios como frutas y verduras, panadería, quesos, productos lácteos, bollería, mieles, o incluso semillas y flores, también habrá talleres:

3 de mayo: Elaboración de queso y yogur
10 de mayo: Elaboración de cerveza artesanal
17 de mayo: Elaboración de pan
24 de mayo: Elaboración de mermelada
31 de mayo: Elaboración de mojos canarios y charla sobre la distinción de los diferentes tipos de huevos

Para asistir a los talleres es necesario inscribirse previamente enviando un mail a laspalmas@canarias.upa.es

Estas iniciativas no sólo permite a los consumidores adquirir productos de calidad, familiares y de cercanía sino que ayuda a dinamizar los mercados, fomentar el asociacionismo, incentivar un tejido económico-empresarial e incluso impulsar la creación de empleo.

Estará abierto los domingos de 08:30 a 18:30 horas. Es muy fácil llegar: desde la autopista GC-1, tomas la salida 18 a Carrizal/Ingenio. Sigues las indicaciones a Ingenio, lo atraviesas por la calle principal hasta que llegas a una rotonda donde indica La Pasadilla a la derecha.

Y de paso te das una vuelta por la zona que está preciosa 🙂
