Hoy he descubierto un sitio fantástico, de esos de recomendar. Me llevó una amiga, yo no lo conocía. Es un restaurante frente al mar, se llama “El Balcón de San Agustín” y me pareció un valioso hallazgo, porque es fácil de llegar, hay una playa preciosa justo al lado y puedes dejar el coche muy fácil y con suerte, sin pagar. La dirección es Jazmines 15, google maps lo marca en la parte superior, pero en realidad el restaurante está más abajo, en una terraza del paseo marítimo. Se llega por la Av. de la Europea (GC-500) desde el norte o el sur, accediendo a la Calle Acacias desde la rotonda de la Clínica Roca. Por esa calle se llega a una bolsa de aparcamiento que es zona azul. Justo al fondo hay una entrada en la pared hacia otra zona de aparcamiento que no es azul y el suelo es de gravilla. Lo mejor es dejar el coche allí y caminar hacia la derecha. Rodeando la playa se accede al paseo marítimo serpenteante que te lleva directamente a la terraza del restaurante. Justo antes, unos escalones más abajo, hay una especie de trampolín con una escalerita que baja directamente al agua. ¡Ojo, que no es tan profundo como para practicar clavados!
La carta del Balcón de San Agustín es variada y por supuesto no faltan los pescados ni los mariscos. El camarero, super simpático nos hizo pecar con un pan recién horneado con ali oli para empezar (¿cómo resistirse?) Y aunque no estaba en la carta, yo me pedí un pulpo frito que es un plato que no falta en cualquier restaurante que se jacte de tener comida auténtica canaria. Por cierto, estaba estupendo, con su salsa de cilantro o mojo verde, de toda la vida. Mi amiga se pidió unos calamares que no envidiaba nada a mi pulpo. Completamos los platos con la ensalada de la casa, muy completita y gustosa. Cafecito, charla con vistas estupendas y a casa.
La próxima vez, venimos más temprano y me traigo el bikini 😉

Today I discovered a fantastic place, one of those to recommen. A friend of mine took me, I did not know it. It is a beachfront restaurant , called “El Balcón de San Agustín”. I think it’s a valuable finding because it is easy to get, there is a lovely beach right besides and you can leave the car easily and hopefully without paying. The address is Jazmines 15, google maps marks it on the top of the cliff, but actually the restaurant is on a the terrace on the promenade below. It is reached by the Av. de la Europea(GC -500) from the north or south, accessing the Calle Acacias from the roundabout of the Clínica Roca. That street leads to a blue parking zone (means you have to pay). Right at the end of this parking there is an entry on the wall to another parking area that is not blue and the floor is gravel. I recommend leaving the car there and walk to the right. Surrounding the beach you access to a winding promenade that takes you directly to the restaurant terrace. Just before, a few steps below, there is a kind of springboard platform with a ladder that leads directly to water. Watch out! Cause is not deep enough to practice diving!
The menu at Balcón de San Agustín is varied and of course they have fresh fish and seafood. The super friendly waiter made us sin with a freshly baked bread with garlic mayonnaise to start ( how can you resist ?) And although it was not on the menu, I ordered pulpo frito (fried octopus), a dish that you always find in any restaurant that boast of having authentic Canarian food. By the way, it was great, with its cilantro sauce or mojo verde. My friend got some calamares (squid) that had nothing to envy to my octopus. We completed dishes with house salad, very complete and tasty. Coffee, nice talk with great views and went back home.
Next time I’ll come earlier and bring the bikini 😉
