Una pareja que recibí en Casa Salinero me comentó que habían estado en La Locanda El Roque y que les había encantado el sitio. “Tienes que recomendarselo a tus huéspedes”, me dijeron. Así que decidí probarlo para poder opinar de primera mano. La Locanda El Roque es un pequeño restaurante en la costa de Moya. Está literalmente enclavado en un roque, siguiendo una callecita laberíntica, sorteando casitas amontonadas que ofrecen diferentes rincones para sacar la foto perfecta del atardecer. Se llega por la GC-2 y, pasando San Andrés, se toma la salida “El Roque”. Una pequeña curva cerrada hacia la derecha y se llega a un enorme descampado que funciona como parking. Desde allí se accede por una escalera al pequeño caserío hasta llegar a la balconada donde está el restaurante.
Recomiendo llegar hacia la tardecita para poder disfrutar del atardecer. Con días claros es posible ver el Teide y parte de la isla de Tenerife. Por la noche hasta se pueden ver las luces de la ciudad de Santa Cruz desde la terraza, aunque si la brisa del mar no te agrada para cenar, el interior es más que acogedor. El resturante, a cargo de Atilio y Susi, tiene una carta muy italiana, con lo que es posible pedir un aperitivo como el Negroni o el clásico Gin&tonic. Para cenar, nosotros pedimos el Vitelo Tonato, la Parmigiana y los Langostinos al Curry. Excelentes platos todos y cada uno (se veían tan apetitosos que no dio tiempo a sacar foto) y, aunque no somos muy postreros nos tentaron la Crème Brulè y la Panacotta, que estaban increíbles.
Así que sí, puedo recomendar esta pequeña joya de la costa norte, poco frecuentada por los turistas de arena y sol que se alojan en el sur y preguntan por un lugar diferente. 🙂

A couple who stayed at Casa Salinero told me they had been in La Locanda El Roque and had loved the place. “You have to recommend it to your guests”, they said. So I decided to try it to review it first hand. The Locanda El Roque is a small restaurant on the coast of Moya. It is literally nestled in a rook, following a labyrinthine alley, dodging houses offering different spots to get the perfect sunset photo. It is reached by the GC-2 and, once you pass San Andrés, take exit “EL Roque”. A tight turn to the right and you will reach a huge open space that works as a parking. From there you can access via a staircase to the small village to get to the balcony where the restaurant is.
I recommend getting in late afternoon to enjoy the sunset. With a clear day you can see the Teide and part of the island of Tenerife. At night you can even see the lights of the city of Santa Cruz from the terrace. But if the you don’t like the sea breeze for dinner, the interior is more than cozy. The resturant, by Atilio and Susi, has a very Italian menu. You can order an apperitivo as the Negroni or the classic Gin & tonic. For dinner, we ordered the Vitelo Tonato, Parmigiana and Prawn Curry. Great dishes every and each of them (they looked so appetizing that there was no time to take photo) and although we are not very fond of desserts we were tempted by the Crème Brule and Panacotta, and they were amazing.
So yes, I can recommend this little gem of the north coast, little frequented by sand and sun tourists staying in the south and ask for a different place. 🙂
