Durante la semana que viene recibiré a dos huéspedes que participarán de la TransGranCanaria. A mí me sonaba de nombre, pero no sabía exactamente en qué consistía. Pues esta es una prueba que se viene celebrando en Gran Canaria desde el 2003. Básicamenete es cruzar la isla a pie que, según la categoría, puede hacerse en 6 hasta en 30 horas. Este año se celebra el 6, 7 y 8 de marzo y hay cinco modalidades:

During the next week I’ll be hosting two guests who will participate in the Transgrancanaria. The name sounded familiar to me but did not know exactly what it was. Well, this is a test that has been held in Gran Canaria since 2003. Basically consists of crossing the island on foot, depending on the category, can be done in 6 to 30 hours. This year the test will be the 6, 7 and 8 of March and there are five categories:

Los participantes disponen de 30 horas para realizarla, algunos terminarán en la primer jornada y los últimos harán noche en el camino y llegarán al día siguiente.

La I Edición de la Transgrancanaria en el año 2003, fue una carrera por montaña, sin más, que consistía en cruzar la isla de Gran Canaria de oeste a este, partiendo desde Agaete y finalizando en la Playa de Arinaga (64 km). Tras exitosas ediciones con el consiguiente incremento de participantes, surgió la necesidad de mejorar el sistema de señalización y avituallamiento y era necesario buscar recursos y apoyos para dar un mejor servicio a los corredores. A partir del año 2007 la Transgrancanaria ya está consolidada en las Islas Canarias como pionera en este tipo de prueba y conocida poco a poco en toda Europa. Tanto, que este año participará hasta Cristina Pedroche!

A partir del año 2008, la repercusión internacional fue tal, que esta prueba es la encargada de abrir la temporada de carreras de ultratrail en Europa. Desde 2011, la Transgrancanaria es patrocinada por la marca The North Face®, junto con The North Face® Ultra-Trail Mt. Fuji en Japón, The North Face® Ultra-Trail du Mont-Blanc® en Francia, Ultra trail Lavadero en Italia, y Los Ángeles en EE.UU.

Ahora me explico cómo es que gente de Suiza o Inglaterra venga a Gran Canaria a participar de esta prueba 🙂

Participants have 30 hours to do, some will end on the first day and last night made along the way and will arrive the next day.

The First Edition of the Transgrancanaria in 2003 was a running race, as simply as that, which consisted of crossing the island of Gran Canaria from west to east, starting in Agaete and ending in Playa de Arinaga (64 km). After successful editions with the consequent increase of participants, it became necessary to improve the signaling system and supplies and needed to find resources and support to improve the service to the runners. From 2007 the Transgrancanaria is already established in the Canary Islands as a pioneer in this type of test and gradually known throughout Europe.

Since 2008, the international impact was such that this test opens the racing season ultratrail in Europe. Since 2011, the Transgrancanaria is sponsored by The North Face® brand, along with The North Face® Ultra-Trail Mt. Now I understand why people from Switzerland or England come to Gran Canaria to participate in this test 🙂

For those looking for sandy beaches and endless sunshine, Playa del Ingles is the perfect choice. Shopping centers, the Paseo Costa Canaria, restaurants, bars, ATMs, supermarkets, pharmacies… all easy and convenient to not have to think about anything but having a good time. Four of them are located on Avenida Tirajana, one of the main streets of Playa del Inglés, just one block from the beautiful dunes of Maspalomas. A éstos se le suma este modesto apartamento en planta baja, con terraza privada y acceso directo a la piscina. Un coqueto apartamento a tan sólo 10 minutos andando del Centro Comercial Anexo II, en la misma playa, con todo lo que necesitas tener a mano para unas vacaciones inolvidables. Sobre la Av. Italia, muy cerquita de los Centros Comerciales Metro, Plaza y Kasbah, donde abunda la oferta de restaurantes, bares, discotecas, supermercados y demás tiendas.

Arinaga

Hay gente que prefiere un turismo más local, mezclarse con los lugareños, buscar playas más tranquilas o probar la gastronomía de la isla sin pasar por un “restaurante típico”. Arinaga reúne perfectamente esas características, conjugando lo práctico con lo original, lo auténtico con lo sorprendente.

Los dos apartamentos están muy bien situados. Uno de ellos en una ubicación de lujo, frente a la piscina natural Zoco del Negro. Resguardada del viento y las olas, es perfecta para los baños matutinos o visitar con niños. El otro esta muy cerquita, en línea recta al muelle. Supermercados, zona peatonal, bares, restaurantes y el paseo marítimo de casi 2 km para pasear, hacer ejercicio y llenar los pulmones de saludable aire marino.

Both apartments are well located. One of them is in an estrategic location, facing the natural pool Zoco del Negro. Las Palmas

Para los más urbanitas, qué mejor ciudad en Gran Canaria que su capital, Las Palmas. Una ciudad viva y acogedora, que aúna cultura, deporte, ocio, playa, compras y actividades infantiles, aparte de ser punto estratégico para iniciar cualquier recorrido por la isla. Este pequeño apartamento situado a tan sólo 40 metros del Paseo de Las Canteras es perfecto para esos viajeros que disfrutan de las playas urbanas, dar un paseo por el Paseo Marítimo, salir de compras, tomarse un café en las terrazas de las plazas, visitar un museo o disfrutar de algún concierto de música en el Auditorio Alfredo Krauss. Ubicadas dentro del mismo paraje natural de las Salinas de Bocacangrejo, Casas Langostero son dos apartamentos que han sido recuperados donde antiguamente funcionaba “El Langostero“, un criadero de langostas. Todavía en fase de reforma, en breve estos dos apartamentos estarán listos.
